For the last six months, AI wasn’t really on my mind.
I became completely immersed in street photography, spending countless hours walking through New York with a camera in my hands. That experience changed the way I see photographs and, perhaps more importantly, the way I see their limitations.
Street photography taught me something very simple: some worlds can no longer be photographed because they no longer exist.
This series had been quietly growing in my mind for a long time. Memories, old films, fragments of childhood, and images from a disappearing era kept returning to me. I realized that no matter how much I walked the streets, I could never photograph those moments. They were gone.
That realization eventually led me back to AI—not as a replacement for photography, but as a creative tool that allowed me to visualize something a camera can no longer capture.
In a strange way, this project grew directly out of my year with street photography. It was born from an appreciation of reality, but also from an awareness of what reality can no longer give us.
