I never use flash for my street photography. One reason is simple: in daylight, I shoot too frequently for a flash to keep up. The other is that flash immediately attracts attention — people look at me and stop doing whatever they were doing.

So I decided to try something different: add a flash effect to my existing street photographs and see what happens.

And because I know you love Before & After, here’s a little challenge: if I hadn’t told you which is which, would you notice that the lighting wasn’t real?

The photos are real. Only the light isn’t.
